Two Roads Lead To Trailhead
There are two roads to Tataka trailhead. One is Provincial Highway 21 that is shorter but usually with unstable road condition, like falling rocks and roadbed collapse…etc and the other is Provincial Highway 21 called Alishan Highway, as well. Although a long and winding road might cause car sickness, it is always accompanied by the unexpected scenery.
That is Yushan (Jade Mountain) Main Peak!
You can see Yushan Main Peak on Highway 21, but it is so weird and looks lower than the left peak, Yushan North Peak. Haha.. The tour guide says it is a viewing angle difference.
Dongpu Lodge: Pre-event meeting & pack up
Most of the tour agents usually arrange Dongpu Lodge as the 1st-night accommodation because it is right next to Tataka Trailhead. We have dinner in the lodge and there is a pre-event meeting and the tour guide will brief each participant on the itinerary, weather, what to take care when a trek, how to pack up and which gear or stuff needs waterproofs and, some important trekking and security concepts….etc. Everyone is well prepared and ready to fight Yushan Trek with full energy.
